I Fell In Love with a Louis Vuitton Tote, Hard!

I often see bags that catch my eye immediately. However, I rarely fall in love as quickly and hard as I did with the Louis Vuitton womens On The Go tote bags. 

The Louis Vuitton On The Go Tote may not have the same heritage as the Neverfull but has been the new fan favourite LV tote. LV’s On The Go is inspired by Louis Vuitton's Sac Plat, a 1968 archive design, and House's enormous shopping bags. It is a fashionable workday companion and an ideal vacation companion, with plenty of capacity for a laptop computer and other business and travel needs.

The On The Go tote initially appeared in shops around the summer of 2019 in the GM size. Because of its eye-catching design, the bag swiftly captivated Louis Vuitton fans and sold out nearly immediately after its release. Even now, the On The Go bags frequently sell out the instant they arrive in retailers.

Here are five aspects that I love about the bag that you will also adore.

Aesthetic

It's the kind of bag you'll either adore with all your heart or despise with all your gut. The On The Go bag has an enlarged monogram design on the canvas, which they have fittingly termed the "Monogram Giant." The reverse monogram canvas has become my favourite from my collection of Louis Vuitton womens handbags and backpacks. It has been a wardrobe essential for me. It looks well with any neutral piece of clothing and can make even the most boring ensemble appear fascinating. My favourite feature of the bag is the contrast of the different monogram colours on the handles. It makes the inverted monogram stand out against the traditional monogram design.

Usability and Functionality

Louis Vuitton has now released the On The Go tote in an MM size. The bag is large, measuring 16.14L x 13.39H x 7.48W inches. The coated canvas is exceptionally lightweight, so even when filled, the bag does not feel heavy. The size of the GM On The Go tote is just appropriate for my particular handbag size choice. My bag is never burdened down because of the lightweight quality of Louis Vuitton's coated canvas. The only drawback to this bag is that it does not have a top zip. 

Bag Quality

I have no complaints about the quality of most of my Louis Vuitton womens handbags and backpacks. The metal is gleaming, the stitching is flawless, and the canvas is uniform. The monogram design on several of my Louis Vuitton bags is misaligned, yet it matches exactly on my On The Go. I own a lot of Louis Vuitton womens handbags and tote bags, and I can confirm that my On The Go tote bag is of high quality all around. The coated canvas is thicker than any of my Neverfulls. The red microfiber inside is long-lasting, so I don't have to worry about my bag's internal lining. This bag is a workhorse for me, and I don't feel the need to pamper it in any way.

Price and Value

Even for a high-end brand like Louis Vuitton, this bag is a pricey option for womens tote bags. There is no sugarcoating the fact that more than two-thousand dollars are a hefty price tag for an all-canvas bag. I often buy high-end designer handbags, and I must say that this bag appears to be overpriced. However, I had lusted for this bag for more than six months before purchasing it. The price of this bag is high, but it is also sizable. As a result, the price is a little easier to take, albeit I still know it's a costly buy. It feels nicer to walk out of the store with a large bag rather than a pricier small bag.

Timelessness

Objectively, I have to acknowledge that this handbag is current and unlikely to become a classic in and of itself. However, fashion is cyclical, and I know that even if this bag slips from view in a few years, it will reappear later. I'm also not one to carry bags just because they're trendy, so durability wasn't as important to me when I decided to get this bag. I know I'll keep wearing it even if it doesn't stay in vogue, so staying power wasn't a big deal for me. On the other hand, if you exclusively purchase vintage handbags, this may not be the ideal option for you.

Over the years, I have also come to love their mens handbag and tote bag collection. There is no denying that the quality of their bags is superb.
