Everyone loves to eat delicious food. Who doesn't want to savour that in our mouth that greasy grilled meat, or melted mozzarella cheese on pizza or the burning sensation of rum in our throat. However, an unhealthy diet will take its toll in our body in the long run causing deadly illnesses such as colorectal cancer. To prevent this from happening, limit your intake of these following foods immediately.

1.) Red Meat

Red meat is present in many of our favourite dishes. Pork, beef, lambs are a good source of protein, but excessive consumption may increase the risk of colorectal cancer. Colorectal doctors in Singapore suggest to only consume 70g of red meat for adults per day.

2.) Processed Meat

Colorectal doctors in Singapore warn about excessive consumption of processed meat that has artificial flavouring and colouring. It includes hot dogs, bacon, sausages, luncheon meat etc. The ideal serving of processed meat is the same as red meat. An adult can take not more than 70g of processed meat each day.

3.) Fried Food

Greasy and fatty fried foods are more difficult to digest than fruits and vegetables. Oily fast food and street food are among the culprits. These foods take a longer time in the stomach to process that increases the risk of colorectal cancer.

4.) Sweets

Sugary drinks, sweet desserts, and carbohydrates also increase the risk of getting colorectal cancer. Your consumption of soft drinks, artificial fruit juice, potatoes, sweet desserts such as chocolates and ice cream should be limited.

5.) Alcohol

Aside from being bad for the liver, heavy drinking of alcohol can increase the risk of colorectal cancer by 40%.

To ensure the status of your colon and rectum, make sure to undergo colonoscopy in colorectal clinics in Singapore. It can be done once in a decade. Early detection is possible through colonoscopy. Colorectal clinics in Singapore have other ways to detect the illness through Faecal Immunochemical Test that should be taken annually.
