Private investigators are required to go on training before their licence gets issued. A similar process happens for a private detective in Singapore. As of 2019, Singapore hasn’t issued any specific laws about privacy. Being a private investigator is a difficult job. But it becomes fulfilling when cases get resolved. There are different types of detectives such as police, computer crime, civil, surveillance, or a fraud investigator in Singapore. These are just some of the common detective types in the country.

If you want to be a private or forensic investigator in Singapore, below are the licensing conditions.

1. The licensee shall be:

A.) 16 years old and above B.) Physically fit to work as a private detective in Singapore, and should be certified by a medical doctor; and

C.) able to provide a medical certificate for Police Licensing & Regulatory Department (PLRD) officers’ inspection.

2. The validity of a private investigator’s licence is only for 5 years from the approval date by the PLRD. 3. The licensee shall not solicit business or private investigation services.

4. The licensee shall strictly comply with the Code Of Conduct from PLRD and the detective agency in Singapore

5. The licensee shall always seek approval for possession of any technical counter-surveillance and necessary equipment for their tasks.

6. The licensee shall not be involved in any illegal debt businesses.

7. The licensee shall surrender their Security Identification Card to PLRD when no longer approved to work as a private detective in Singapore.

8. Unless notified by the Licensing Officer, the licensee shall acquire certifications and shall complete WSQ modules, before getting deployed in the field.

9. Failure to meet all training requirements, completing all certifications, and passing all prerequisite WSQ modules within three months may result in revocation of licence.e.

A private detective in Singapore demands training, as the Private Security Industry Act (PSIA) was imposed in 2007. It states that no one shall be deployed to investigation services without a Private Investigation Agency Licence.
